Polly Kay Courtot, 62, of Plainfield, passed away on April 18, 2020. She was born on September 18, 1957, to the late Leonard & Patricia Elliott.
Polly married her husband, Dennis Courtot, on August 24, 1985, and she was an incredible wife. They liked to vacation at Indiana State Parks and visited every State Park Inn except one! Polly & Dennis had three children, Rachael (Michael) McGlothlin, Rebecca Courtot, and Dennis Andrew Courtot. Polly had one grandson, Elliott Courtot, and being a grandma brought great joy to her life.
She instilled in her children the idea of starting each day with, “a smile and a good thought.” Her persistence and resiliency shined in even the most troubling of times. Love was often expressed through laughter and silliness, and she could be described as having been a caregiver in every sense of the word.
A skilled bookkeeper and devoted co-worker, Polly was identified as a “friend, teacher, and mathematical genius.” Homemaking and gardening were also parts of her expertise, filling the house with the smell of homemade sticky buns on Christmas mornings, and awe-inspiring flower beds every spring.
Show choir was one of her favorite activities, and she was a very talented singer. Throughout life, she brought laughter and joy to those who saw her perform. She played an unforgettable version of the Wicked Witch of the West in “The Wizard of Oz,” with the best cackle!
Polly truly enjoyed being a twin sister to Paula (Mark) Bryan. They always shared a close bond and created a jewelry business in honor of their mother called, “Patty’s Pearls.” She was grateful for her other two sisters as well, Kathy Elliott, and Lizabeth (Steve) St. Clair, and for her three brothers, the late Leonard Elliott, Theodore Elliott, and Daniel Elliott. Polly absolutely loved growing up in a big family, with many beloved nieces and nephews. She spoke of it often.
Polly was deeply loved, and she will be greatly missed.
