Philippe’ Andre Moore more affectionately known as “Phil” and “Philip”, age 37, of Indianapolis, IN was born on March 3, 1985, to Paul and Deborah Moore. He came into this world first, immediately followed by his twin sister, Felicia. On May 24, 2022, he departed this life doing two of the things he enjoyed best, teaching children, and playing music.
Phil lived a full life. He attended several elementary schools, Fulton Middle School, and graduated from Ben Davis High School where he was a member of several bands, most notably Winter Percussion as well as Symphonic, Jazz and Marching Band. He also won several ISSMA music competitions. After high school, he initially attended Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) before transferring to Marian University and receiving is Bachelor of Arts degree in Instrumental Music Education. He was pursuing a master’s degree in Educational Leadership at the time of his passing. Phil worked as a Best Buy associate and Percussion Director and Visual Coordinator at Triton Central High School during his undergraduate years. After receiving his degree, he was full throttle with his music career. He worked as a freelance musician and composer while also being a member of the band Vinyl Trends. Professionally, he worked and taught students from Lawrence North and Ben Davis high schools before beginning his tenure at Saint Simon the Apostle Catholic School as Theatre Director and PreK-8 Music Teacher. He was beloved by his Saint Simon the Apostle Catholic Church family where he attended Mass.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Iveory J. Bowman; grandmother Lynn Smith; father, Paul Moore; mother, Deborah Moore; uncle, Keith Clemons; first cousin Aaron Speikes.
He is survived by his twin sister Felicia Groce (Stephen); sister Tamara Mitchell; aunts Linda Clemons and Valerie Loper; uncle, James “Uncle Jimmy” Bowman (Becky); nieces Jasmine Mitchell-Varga (Jesse), Amiyah, Kaleah, and Zariya Groce; stepmother Dorla Williams; stepbrothers Steven Jackson (Amanda), Charles Jackson (Tasha), Virgil Akers Jr.; step father, Ed Herring; and a host of cousins, colleagues, friends and students
