Paul E. Schrader, 95, passed away peacefully at the home of his youngest daughter, JoJo Griffith Schreiner on September 6, 2024. He had been living in Lehigh Acres, FL until he suffered from complications of Covid.

He was born on January 29, 1929, to Esther and Lawrance Schrader in Ft Wayne, IN.

He started his career at Heinold Hog Market and eventually became a commodity broker there. It was a perfect fit as he liked to gamble. He loved to play poker with his grandkids.

Paul was a proud Marine who was promoted to Staff Sergeant because of excellence in work as Battalion Wire Chief.

He loved to entertain and enjoyed cooking for friends and family. He was known for his spicy barbeque ribs and homemade ice cream. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling, especially to warm climate destinations.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lois Zumbrun Schrader, whom he married in 1954; his daughter, Roni Huffer Pendleton; Glessie "JoAnn" Cummings, his partner for 28 years; brother, Max Schrader; and sister, June Jones.

He is survived by his daughters, Jackie Wolf, JoJo Griffith Schreiner and Beth Schrader Myers Johnson; nine grandkids, and eleven great-grandkids

A life well lived is a precious gift. In memory of Paul Schrader, whose immense passion for life was evident to everyone who knew him, we will be having A Celebration of his Life. It will be held at the Carroll County Country Club on October,12 from 2:00-4:00pm. Everyone is welcome to come and share a memory or story. Feel free to stop by and share a champagne toast. We will also be honoring JoAnn Cummings who passed away August 11, 2024. She had been struggling with Alzheimer's.
