Paul Mitchell Jr.

November 24, 1931 — December 3, 2023

Brownsburg

Paul Mitchell was the middle of nine children born on November 24, 1931, in Indianapolis, IN, to Paul Elmore Sr. (29), and his mother, Alice Lucille (Suddith) Mitchell (29).

Paul proudly served his country as a member of the US Armed Forces during the Korean War from 1952-1954 in the 2nd (Indianhead) Division, 3rd Battalion, 38th Infantry, M Company, and spent 14 months overseas in combat. He was awarded a United Nations Service Medal, a Korean Service Ribbon with 2 Bronze Service Stars, a National Defense Service Medal, and a Combat Infantry badge for his loyalty and commitment to his country. Paul remained close with his fellow Veterans as an active member of the VFW in Speedway and Brownsburg. He greatly enjoyed attending the annual national reunions of the Second (Indianhead) Division Association.

He married Alice R. Dodson on September 26, 1954, in Marion, Indiana at the age of 22. They had four children in 11 years. Paul (Connie) Mitchell, Rickey Allen Mitchell (1958–2005), Brian Mitchell (Jeffrey Wolfe), Michael (Julie) Mitchell and adored his 6 grandchildren: Liss “Melissa” Mitchell (Eric Bellmore), Joshua (Sherri) Mitchell, Andrew Stevens, Paul William (Elizabeth) Mitchell, Jarryd (Deanna) Mitchell, Hannah Mitchell, and his 7 Great-Grandchildren: Adrian Trevino (Diana Torres), Morgan Bellmore, Rickey Mitchell, Vincent Trevino, Chloe Mitchell, Breonna Morley, Kylie Morley.

He was a loving, patient, hard-working provider who retired from Link-Belt on Belmont Avenue in 1995 after 47 years. He spent his early retirement enthusiastically spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cherished every opportunity to fish with his sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. It is with fond memories each member of his family recalls his delight in purchasing their first Zebco fishing pole as soon as they were old enough to sit upright on the tackle box beside him.

He died on December 3, 2023, in Brownsburg, Indiana, at the age of 92 and is preceded in death by his loving Mother Alice Lucille (December 25, 1963, age 61), Father Paul Elmore (April 13, 1978, age 76), all eight siblings.
