Patricia Williams Price

July 8, 1943 — September 21, 2020

Patricia Williams Price, 77, passed away on September 21, 2020 at her home in Carmel, Indiana while surrounded by her family. She was born on July 8, 1943 in South Bend, Indiana to Marybelle Slocum Moore and Wilbur Victor Moore, the youngest of three daughters.

Pat received her Bachelor of Music Education from Indiana University School of Music and her Master of Music in Conducting from the University of North Carolina - Greensboro.

Pat was passionate about music and education and began her teaching career as a music educator in Heltonville, IN before moving to New York to continue teaching music at the West Point Post Schools. After moving to Greensboro, NC, she developed a K-12 string program at Greensboro Day School where she also directed musicals, conducted music ensembles, taught music classes, and served as chair of the Arts Department. Following 17 years in Greensboro, inspiring countless young musicians and raising her two children with James Kent Williams, she moved to Indianapolis to be closer to her family. Happily settled back in her true home-state, Pat organized the Office of Continuing Education at Park Tudor School, and most importantly, met Thomas Rowland Price, whom she was married to for 25 years.

Over the 77 years of her musical life, she served as church organist, director of music, handbells, choral groups, and orchestras for churches spanning from South Bend, to Central Valley, NY, Greensboro NC, Madison NC, and finally Indianapolis, IN.

In addition to music, Pat loved reading, playing board games, and cards, especially bridge. Her Midwestern roots made her down to earth, practical, and full of grit, while still always caring for others. She was always quick with a meal for someone feeling down or a homemade loaf of bread for a friend. She had a deep commitment to family, maintained her sense of humor through all seasons, and stated that one of her greatest joys was being “Mimi” and “Grammy Pat” to her 8 grandchildren.

Pat is survived by her husband Thomas Rowland Price; children Erin Williams Masterson (Allen) and Jordan Kent Williams; step-children Jessica Price, Marcia Price Jay (Jim), Sarah Price Kimball (Monti); grandchildren Michaela Masterson, Avery Masterson, Carter Jay, Kiefer Jay, Griffin Jay, Fletcher Jay, Jackson Payton, and Chelsea Payton; sisters Kathryn Louise Moore Stehle (George) of Holt, MI, JoAnn Elaine Moore Swihart (David) of Pittsburgh, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Mary Moore.

Services will be held Sunday, September 27 at 1:00 PM at Indianapolis First Friends Meeting at 3030 Kessler Boulevard East Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46220. Immediately following the service, the family will receive visitors at Binkley’s Kitchen & Bar.
