Patricia (Engle) Zapp, 94, of Greenwood, IN passed away December 5, 2021. She was born June 25, 1927, in Washington, Indiana to the late Joseph and Marie (Kidwell) Engle. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Beech Grove since 1952 where she was the first Lay Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. She taught at Holy Name Elementary School for 19 years. She graduated from Washington Catholic High School in Washington, Indiana, and Immaculata College for Women in Washington D.C.
An avid bridge player, Patricia was active in the Social of Greenwood and Beech Grove Bridge Clubs. Her greatest joy was her family. One hobby was to collect family pictures and display them throughout her home.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Dale; three sons, Douglas (Linda), Patrick (Linda) and David (Karla); sister, Margie (Bob) Herald; five grandchildren, David (Laura) Zapp, A.J. (Nikki) Zapp, Keith (Lori) Zapp, Jonathan (Brittany) Zapp, and Amy (Patrick) Farrell and sixteen great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death are an infant sister, Eleanor Jean, and sisters, Elizabeth "Bette" (Engle) McMullen and Lillian (Engle) Allison. Visitation for Patricia will be held Thursday, December 9, 2021, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Holy Name Church, 89 N. 17th Ave., Beech Grove, Indiana. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Name Catholic Church or Holy Name School.
