Patricia Jean (Justice) Bondeson

Patricia Jean (Justice) Bondeson passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on February 18, 2025. She was born March 25,1926, in Longview, WA, to Lemuel and Marie Happy Justice. She married Abraham Earl Bondeson in Seattle, WA, on February 28,1946, and is preceded in death by her husband Abe, daughter Barbara, brother Jim, and sister Lenore. 

She is survived by her son, John (Jeff), daughters Betty Kaiser (Paul), Joan Friese, Mary Bondeson and Ruth Welter (Tom). She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Beau, Breanne, Paige, Tess (Trevor), Abi, Sonja (Per), Bjorn (Marc) and Nick, and two great grandsons, Miles and Aram. 

Pat earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Religious Education from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary, her Master’s degree in Elementary Education from Indiana University and her EdS (Specialist’s Degree) in Administration from Indiana University. She taught one year in Mooresville, IN, thirteen years in LaPorte Community Schools; and was an elementary school principal for fourteen years in LaPorte, IN. 

Pat, alongside her devoted husband, Abe, raised six children in the Christian faith. She loved to bake (desserts were her passion, her kids all inherited her sweet tooth!), sew (she made many of her five daughters' clothes), quilt, play cards, attend book club and travel, especially with her group of friends from church. She loved to drive, and made many road trips around the country with her friends and family, as well as larger trips to Hawaii, Alaska and Switzerland. Although she maintained a stoic demeanor, she was a progressive thinker and did not hesitate to stand up for her values. 

Pat really enjoyed entertaining and her philosophy was “all are welcome” and “the more the merrier.” The family had many fun gatherings for birthdays and holidays and especially at Christmas, where we gathered in her home just a few months ago. She was truly loved by many people and was known for her generosity of spirit, time and talent. 

Pat’s Celebration of Life will be Saturday, April 12, 2025, 11:00 a.m., at Allisonville Christian Church, 7701 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis, IN. In lieu of flowers, feel free to donate to the American Red Cross, or your local Hospice Care organization.
