Patricia Yvonne Gray

June 24, 1951 — March 2, 2023

Indianapolis

Patricia Yvonne Haynes Gray, daughter of Betty Jean Cunningham and George Whitmore, was born June 24, 1951 in Madison County, Tennessee. Patricia grew up in Jackson, Tennessee with her loving family, attending public schools there. Patricia married, and to this union, Cherie Lynn Merriweather was born. Patricia came to Indianapolis as a young woman to pursue employment opportunities. She obtained employment with the Marion County Health Department, where she met her husband Norman Paul Gray, and into this union, their son Chevis Lamont Gray was born. In 2013 Patricia retired after 30 years of service. Patricia and Norman joined Pathway Missionary Baptist soon after being united and to this day are still faithful members along side their church family of Pathway Missionary Baptist. Patricia’s favorite pastime was cooking, traveling, giving her best times to her devoted family; and, by the way, Patricia’s cooking was to be reckoned with!

Particia was a giving, kind and passionate woman of character and those that knew her will forever be touched by her love. God summoned Patricia home on March 3, 2023 and his faithful servant answered his call stating, “Here I am, Lord, at the age of 72”. Patricia loved the Lord.

Patricia is preceded in death by her parents, Betty Jean Cunningham and George Whitmore and mother-in-law Ms. Viola Battle.

Patricia leaves to honor and cherish her memories, her husband of 43 years, Mr. Norman Paul Gray; daughter, Cherie Lynn Merriweather; sons, Norman Paul Jackson (Heather) and Chevis Lamont Gray; grandchildren, Patrick, Dominique, Travis, Taya, Marcus, Marquis, Demonte and Daizon; along with great-grandchildren, numerous other family members and friends to include her family church members of Pathway Missionary Baptist Church.
