Norman T. Bruvold

September 14, 1940 — September 25, 2020

Bruvold, Norman T., age 80, passed with the comfort of God into the loving arms of his late wife Kathleen for an eternal embrace on September 25, 2020. Beloved son of Gunnar and Ola Haren. Devoted husband for 50 golden years to Kathleen. Encouraging father of Kristoffer (Iva) and Erik (Molly). Proud Grandfather of Mia, Leila, Miroslav, Georgi, Filip and Sofia. A dear brother to late William (Mary). A caring Uncle to many nieces and nephews, a country boy at heart and play, and an involved family man, coach, mentor and father.

He loved family travel and dogs, was also an avid outdoors enthusiast especially for national parks, mountains and skiing. He was also a highly skilled mathematician, market researcher as well as an official Tennessee Squire.

Norman held degrees from the University of Denver and a PhD from Purdue University. He worked professionally as a United States Postal Carrier, over 10 years for Procter and Gamble, and later as a full time tenured professor for over 30 years at the University of Cincinnati in the College of Business. During that time, he served for many years on the faculty senate and had 10 major published research works with over 190 citations.

Most of all Norman cherished his grandchildren. He thoroughly enjoyed family meals and travel, attending their various events, Skype calls, planned and impromptu visits, but mainly just spending time together watching them grow. He maintained a home that was always inviting and ready to host all visitors, activities, cheers, laughter and smiles of others. His wit, charm and warm personality attracted many people to him, made him well liked and those around him to feel engaged and extremely welcomed. He always enjoyed a good puzzle, math problem, homework set or other thought provoking activity; especially when it was to the benefit of and would sincerely help someone else.

Norman was a strong man, a true fighter. He graced his final days with a recitation of Psalm 23 as well as a concentrated prayer for world peace.

A private cremation was held on Tuesday September 29, 2020. A celebration of life service to reunite him eternally with the love of his life, Kathleen, in Spring Grove Cemetary in Cincinnati Ohio is forthcoming. Final plans will be shared later.

Memorials can be made in Norman’s honor directly to the National Parkinson’s Foundation or your own favorite charity.
