Normalee DeWitt Volz, age 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, June 16, 2021 at home in Indianapolis.
Normalee was born on April 8, 1936, in Birdseye, Indiana to her parents, the late Homer and Gladys (Newton) Dewitt. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Normalee attended St John's United Church of Christ in Indianapolis. She will be remembered for her love of family and her excellent cooking.
Normalee was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Volz, on January 23, 2017. She was also preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Ida Catherine Wallace, Florence Helen Porter, Hazel Maxine Zahn and Lela Sipes and brothers Joseph DeWitt and Virgil Harold DeWitt.
Normalee is survived by her children, Deborah Patterson of Fort Pierce, Florida, Jeff Brown of Whiteland, Indiana, Carla Phipps of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Phillip Volz (Andre) of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She is also survived by a sister, Genavie Francie Villanti of Indianapolis and a brother, Darwin (Mary Ann) of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and her grandchildren, Dennis Graham ( Shari), Roger Graham (Angela) Brandon Finkelstein of Florida and Matthew (Kiersten) Phipps and Katelyn (Aniket) Shimpi of Indianapolis. Great Grandchildren Nathan, Brianna, Marissa, Emily, Mackenzie and Jake Graham of Florida and Finnegan and Elijah Phipps of Indianapolis.
Services will held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 21, 2021 at Indiana Funeral Care Greenwood Chapel 2433 E. Main Street in Greenwood. Friends may call from noon until service time on Monday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society.
