Norma C. Book

Norma C. Book, 94, of Muncie, IN died peacefully Friday, July 30, 2021 at Signature Health Care of Muncie.

She had moved to Muncie in 1965 after living in Lebanon and Whitestown, IN. She was born June 6, 1927 on a farm east of Lebanon where she resided with her parents, the late Alva E and Esther M (Huffman) West. Norma was a graduate of Whitestown High School. On July, 1946 she married Robert E. Schutter. They divorced. She later married Joe Book May, 1968. She was widowed July, 2016.

Norma was a member of the DeSoto United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women’s Group, and organized a Widow’s Lunch Group. She and Joe both participated in the Emmaus Walk. She enjoyed needlework, custom knitting, quilting and sewing. Norma was a Master Gardener. She loved painting with oils, watercolor and acrylic on canvas or porcelain.

Survivors are daughter and son-in-law Carmen and Larry Ottinger of Lebanon, IN son and daughter-in-law Duane and Linda Schutter of Muncie, IN; grandchildren Holly Allen (Jamey) of Lansing, MI, Scott Ottinger of Lebanon, IN, great-grandchildren Alex Ottinger of Indianapolis, IN, Alexcis Allen of Flushing, MI, Ashley Allen (Jordan Meece) of Louder, TN, great-great- grandchildren Ryker Barnes, Atlas Barns, and River Gray and several nieces and nephews and their families.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents and sisters Helen (West) Sutphin and Virginia (West) Bradley both from Indianapolis.

Visitation is 10:30 am-Noon with services to follow Saturday, Aug. 7, 2021 at DeSoto United Methodist Church, 6309 N CR 500 E, Muncie. The Revs. Jen Weaver and Jim Moore will officiate.
