Nancy Abigail Jacoby, most recently of Westfield, IN but resided in Carmel, IN for many years, left our daily lives on December 14, 2020. She was preceded in death by her father, Harry L. Jacoby, her mother, Mildred Lee Hedwick Jacoby, her sister, Jean Alette Jacoby Hauck.
Nancy was born Chicago, Illinois. The family moved to New Augusta, Indiana before Nancy was in first grade. She graduated from Pike High School in 1956. Nancy studied voice, piano and cello at Jordan Conservatory of Music. She was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church and later, King of Glory Lutheran Church. She was active as both Director of the Children’s choir and as soloist in the Senior choir. She cherished her time at church.
Nancy’s first job after graduation was secretary to the Program Director of WISH-TV. She learned the art of performing on TV and eventually was singing and doing commercials. It was from there that she sang professionally and performed with many top names in the music field including the Indianapolis Symphony under the direction of Fabian Sevitzky, the B&B Club with Liberace, Morey Amsterdam at the Crown Room. The Bee Hive Club, LaRue’s Supper Club, The Windjammer Club and other local Indianapolis events. She traveled to the Playboy Club in Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles, The Rooster Tail in Milwaukee, WI and the Pier 66 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. She appeared on the Jack Parr Show, Johnny Carson show and other television shows during that time period.
She later owned and operated her own local cable production company for many Indiana towns, filming, editing, producing and finalizing each program. She was Vice President and General Manager of the Winston Yacht and Country Club and Manager of the Yacht charters in Florida for several years. She became secretary at Jug’s Catering, Secretary at a local attorney’s office, Secretary at King of Glory Lutheran Church, and Executive Secretary to the late Dr. Bailey Davis of Associated Orthodontists of Indiana, Inc for 15 years.
Her gift of love of God, family, friends, and traveling all over the world were her greatest joys.
Survivors are sisters Joan Lee Jacoby Thorpe, Cincinnati, OH and Audrey Ann Jacoby Spencer of Carmel, IN, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, who loved her very much.
Due to current circumstances and Nancy’s wishes there will not be a funeral service. She has asked to be cremated. The family will celebrate her life at a later date.
