Myrna J. Fickle

March 10, 1934 — December 4, 2019

Myrna J. Fickle was born 3/10/34 in Galveston, Indiana. The family moved to Frankfurt and then to Logansport where she spent most of her childhood. Following graduation from Logansport High School, she served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged. She was employed at Logansport State Hospital for several years before returning to college. She graduated from Indiana University with high distinction and a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology. She was employed in the laboratory at Covance in Indianapolis for over 20 years.

Myrna was a kind person with a good sense of humor and strong opinions. She was friend to all and fiercely loyal to her family, her friends, and her pets. In a class assignment to write your own epitaph, she wrote “She never deliberately hurt any living creature” and that’s how Myrna tried to live her life. When she was still healthy, she was active in service work that included stocking a food bank, transporting rescue animals, and serving as an HOA board member and as HOA board president. Although Myrna was baptized as an infant, she chose to be baptized again as an adult so that she could make the choice herself. Most recently she attended Northview Church in Carmel with friends until she was no longer able to go. Myrna was an avid sports fan and proudly supported the Indianapolis Colts, the Indiana Fever, the Indiana Pacers, and especially IU basketball and football teams. In 1976 she was thrilled to attend the NCAA tournament game in Philadelphia when IU’s undefeated team won the national championship.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Thelma Fickle, as well as her sister Laura Johnson. She is survived by her nephews Steven Barr (Rebecca) of South Bend, Ron Barr, and John Maloney (Brenda), both of Logansport. Surviving extended family members include Carlie Barr of Chicago, Kali Bar (Jason) and Teigan Barr of South Bend, Glenda Brown of Dallas, Cindy and Dustin Hinshaw of Ft. Wayne, Roxie Stone of Carmel, and her beloved dog Bo Fickle of Carmel.

She was loved and will be missed by all until we meet again.
