Myla Pierson Jordan
On Thursday, November 19th, 2020, Myla Pierson Jordan, loving wife, mother and nana, went home to be with her heavenly Father, at the age of 74. Myla was born on February 10th, 1946 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Jake and Betty Pierson. She was a graduate of Broad Ripple High School and Indiana University and taught art in several schools in the Indianapolis area before raising her children Jennifer and Joe with her husband Jim. Myla had an amazing gift for encouraging others and did so everywhere she went. Serving in her church families at Castleview and later College Park Church, was a joy to her, as well as to all she so easily befriended. She used her creativity to make beautiful calligraphy and handmade cards that she would give to others. She had the ability to make whomever she was talking to feel like they were the most important person in the world to her! She suffered physically in the last years of her life but she refused to let it get her down. She would often use scripture in her calligraphy and her favorite verse was Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Myla was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jim, their two children Jennifer (husband Bob) and Joe, her brothers Steve (wife Esther) and Jay, and grandchildren Audrey and Theo.
In lieu of coronavirus concerns, a private family graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 1st at the Oaklawn Memorial Gardens located on 9700 Allisonville Road. A video tribute is being prepared to share with family and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking that you consider a donation to College Park Church for their Christmas offering that will help spread the gospel of hope around our city.
