Mildred Brock, 91, of Mooresville passed away on May 23, 2020 at Meadow Lakes Nursing Home. Mildred was born on November 25, 1928, in, Making, Kentucky to the late Lee and Rebecca Short.
Mildred grew up in the mountains of Kentucky, the daughter of a coal miner that was also a preacher. She had a mule named Jack she would ride off the mountain to go to the store.
Mildred married Walter Brock in 1945. After Walter returned from the war they eventually settled down in Indiana where they continued to raise their children.
Mildred loved dogs and gardening and she also had been a singer in a quartet. She could often be heard singing around the house while cooking and cleaning. Mildred also spent several years as a nanny.
Mildred loved her husband very, very much. She loved her children and grandchildren and it was some of her happiest moments with her family all around at get-togethers and holidays.
Mildred was a devoted Christian and loved the Lord. She had been a member at Victory Baptist Church for many years.
Mildred is proceeded in death by her parents, Lee and Rebecca (Craft) Short; two sisters; four brothers; along with her husband, Walter L. Brock.
She is survived by her children, Lonnie L. (Rebecca) Brock, Arlie S. (Diane) Brock, James L. (Dee) Brock, Edward L. Brock, Curtis R. (Georgie) Brock, Winford Brock, Regina F. Lewis, Brian L. Broc; 35 grandchildren and several great and great-great children.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 30th, at Indiana Funeral Care, Greenwood Chapel with visitation starting at 11:00 AM. Burial to follow at Mt Pleasant Cemetery
