Greenwood, IN: Michael (Mike/MO) Patrick Sean O'Leary passed from this life at his home on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at the age of 53. Mike was born in Elwood, Indiana on November 17, 1967, as the second child of three of Patrick M. O'Leary and Jacqueline L. (Clarke) Rimmer.
A veteran of the U.S. Army and the Indiana National Guard, he enlisted in 1986 and retired in 2012 after achieving the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4. He served as a medivac pilot in Operation Joint Force in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Operation Iraqi Freedom and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and Army Achievement Medal during his service. Mike was employed for 16 years as a pilot with Omni Flight and Metro Aviation in support of IU Health's LifeLine medical transport.
Mike loved spending time with his family and pets, especially at their property, along with his love of his principal hobbies of hunting, fishing, and experiencing the great outdoors. He had the admirable quality of making friends wherever he went. Mike also liked to speak in movie quotes and one of his favorite pastimes was making people laugh. Additionally, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. Mike is survived by his wife, Rhonda L. (Miller) O'Leary, who he married in 1992 and their union was blessed with their daughter, Mackenzie E. O'Leary, in 1999.
In addition to his wife, Rhonda, and daughter, Mackenzie, Mike is survived by his mother, Jacqueline, step-mother, Fran O'Leary, his siblings, Kelli (Ron) Boyland, Ann (Ed) Amick, John (Jessica) O'Leary, Kathleen (Dustin) Saltsman, Jason Darts and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces. His father, Patrick M. O'Leary, and step-father, John Rimmer, preceded him in death.
A memorial visitation will take place at Indiana Funeral Care, 2433 E Main St, Greenwood on Saturday, September 18, 2021, from 11 am to 2 pm. An honors ceremony will take place at 1:30 pm.
