Michael David Schroeder, 42, of Indianapolis, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, July 2, 2020. He was born on April 6, 1978 in Jasper, IN to David and Marilyn Schroeder.
Michael graduated from Jasper High School in 1996 and attended Indiana State University and IUPUI. Michael’s career centered around management, but his true passions were traveling, being with friends and family, and making great memories.
With Michael, others always came first. He was a devoted husband, son, brother, best friend, and an all-around amazing person. His sense of humor and sharp wit was one-of-a-kind. One of his favorite quotes was from the movie Steel Magnolias, Clairee Belcher said, “if you can’t say something nice about somebody, come sit by me!” and for those lucky enough to sit by him, he would make you laugh for hours on end. Michael’s absence will be felt by so many. He was always the first to help dust you off and tell you that you were better than you could ever give yourself credit for.
Michael is preceded in death by his father David Schroeder. He is survived by his husband Greg Simon, mother, Marilyn Burris, step-father Jerry Burris, sisters Angie Kaiser (Sean Kaiser) and Gina Twomey (Jason Twomey), stepsisters Kim Woodward (Adam Woodward) and Shelia Burris (Debbie Paul). Along with nieces and nephews Clint, his wife Taryn, Moriah, Kate, Lydia, Macy, Nola, Colton, Chase, Madison, Addison and great-niece Reese, along with many more lives he touched throughout his 42 years.
A visitation will take place at the Indiana Funeral Care location on Allisonville Road in Indianapolis on Wednesday, July 8, 2020. The visitation will start at 12:00 pm and continue until 1:30pm. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, at 1:30 pm we will ask that the family and closest friends stay to attend a memorial service. Please wear masks to the visitation.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Heart Association or the Human Rights Campaign.
