Melvin Rick Hartle, known to all as Rick, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at the age of 69. Born on April 1, 1955, in Muncie, Indiana, Rick lived a life full of passion, determination, and love.
Rick was a skilled and competitive golfer, participating in multiple World Amateur Golf tournaments and earning a notable victory in the Anderson City Tournament in the mid to late 1990s. His dedication to the sport extended beyond competition, as he was an active member of several men’s golf clubs, making friends and memories along the way. During the 1980s and early 1990s, Rick was a small business owner, showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to hard work.
Preceded in death by his father William Hartle, stepmother Joyce, and brother Mark Hartle, Rick is survived by a large and loving family. His sisters Janet (Hartle) Ginley and her husband Patrick, and Jennifer (Hartle) Furnish and her husband Doug, along with his brother John Jackson, will forever cherish his memory. He had 3 nephews and 2 nieces.
Rick’s legacy lives on through his children Krista (Hartle) Winters, Jessica (Hartle) Cunningham and her husband Nate, and Matthew Hartle, as well as his five grandchildren—Darian Winters, Colton Thomas, Sara (Crouch) Garner and her husband Zack, Nita (Crouch) Carr, and Josh Crouch—and five great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.
Rick was known for his love of sports, fishing, the outdoors, and his avid appreciation for movies. He had a profound love for travel, exploring the country on numerous adventures.
Above all, Rick will be remembered as a father who inspired success in those around him. His encouragement, humor, and drive leave an indelible mark on his family, friends, and all who knew him.
