Mattie E. Neff

Mattie E. Neff, 95, of Tipton, IN passed away October 13, 2024. She was born in Hammond, IN on November 8, 1928 to anticipation of an eight year wait for Dr. Willard G. Burkett and his wife, Antoinette. 

Their first and only child, Mattie lost her father at the age of 12, and quickly learned to cook and help her mother survive. Mattie gave her life to the Lord at an early age and was always focused on spiritual growth throughout her whole life. 

She married the love of her life, Robert E. Neff, in 1950 and to their union was born three daughters. The family moved from Gary, IN to Indianapolis, IN in 1960. Mattie and Bob found the great fellowship at Hope and then Faith Church. Together Mattie and Bob built a wonderful life for 44 years until Bob's passing on July 20, 1994. 

Mattie then took to great travel trips, her favorite being the Footprints of Paul in Turkey. The past 6 years as her needs changed, her great niece, Jenniffer (Neff) Zebrauskas together with her husband, Eric, assisted and managed Mattie's care with great love and skill. Jenniffer introduced Mattie to Autumwood Assisted Living in Tipton, IN. There she found a new family to love and to be loved everyday in return. 

Mattie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; and daughter, Susan K. Neff.

Surviving Mattie are her two daughters, Diane D. Weaver, and Holly J. (Chris) Wright; and grandchildren, Jessica (Tyler) Weaver and Bob (Shirley) Weaver. 

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024 from 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at Indiana Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Rd. Indianapolis, IN 46250.
