Mattie Jo Asher

Mattie Jo (Shrader) Asher, 88, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away April 14, 2025.

Mattie was born on January 16, 1937 in Ohio County, Kentucky to the late Fred and Susie Shrader. Mattie attended and graduated from Waldron High School in Indiana. Mattie married Donald Asher and spent 60 years together before his passing in April 2021.

Mattie is survived by her children, Diana Barnes Davids, Donna Dallas, Steve Asher, Brenda Baker; step daughter, Cathy Shaw; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren

She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Susie; brothers, LC Shrader, Dub Shrader, Autry Shrader and Darrell Shrader; step daughter, Pam Rud. She is also preceded in death by her loving Golden Retriever, Jesse.

Mattie loved to play Bridge with her friends, go to garage sales with Brenda, playing penny slots at the casino, go on walks and listen to the rain. Mattie and Don along with Sonny and Barbara loved to travel together taking many trips to Vegas and Tunica being a few of their favorite places.

Mattie was a wonderful Mother, Wife, and Friend. She was a dedicated homemaker, exceptional cook and provided the best care for her family. She always decorated the house for each holiday. Mattie will be dearly missed.
