Matthew Edward Carroll, 57, of Morgantown, Indiana passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2021.
He was born on Tuesday, June 23, 1964 to the late Judy Bisel Blankenship but was adopted by the late Clayton Carroll and Cathanne Turley.
Matthew was a disabled retired US Army veteran. He enlisted in the Army in May of 1983 and was a utility Airplane Repairer and Power generation equipment repairer. During his time in the Army, he earned many decorations including 3 Bronze Stars and Aircraft Crewman Badge. He proudly served his country during Desert Storm.
He loved spending time with his family and friends. He adored his grandchildren. He loved to travel, camp, hunt and fish. He was a highly skilled woodworker, craftsman and painter. He was kind, and gentle. He was always willing to lend a hand to a neighbor in need or help his family. He was a great friend and a brother in Christ. He was loved dearly, and he will be greatly missed by all.
Matthew is survived by his wife, Sheila Carroll; sons, David Carroll (Laurel) of Martinsville, TJ Carroll of Morgantown; stepmom, Gladys Carroll of Loogootee; stepsons, Jason Grider (Megan of Franklin, Christopher Grider (Charlie) of Mooresville, Scott Harmon (Payton) of Plainfield, Jonny Harmon (Ashlee) of Avon; stepdaughter, Malana Harmon; grandchildren, Emmie Carroll, Tucker Carroll, Emmett Carroll, Christopher Grider, Jacob Grider, Alicia Grider, Max Grider, Chloe Grider, Levi Harmon; sisters, Tina Carroll of Indianapolis, Danetta Turley of Gainesville, Texas, Tracy (Teen) Robinson, Eaton and Rose (Shaun) Ergle of Muncie; brothers, Mark Bisel (Penny) of Indianapolis, Larry Blankenship (Barbara) of Dunkirk, Daniel Blankenship (Wendy) of Eaton, Shane Blankenship (Stormy) of Muncie; stepbrothers, Ricky Stephenson, Randy Stephenson, Steve Stephenson;14 nephews and 7 nieces; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his birth mom, Judy Blankenship; adoptive parents, Cathanne Turley and Clayton Carroll; stepfather, Dan Turley; brother, Lonnie Blankenship; sister, Theresa Jester; and 3 nephews.
Memorial visitation will be Monday, December 20, 2021 at Indiana Funeral Care, Greenwood Chapel from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm.
Memorial service will begin at 1:00 pm.
