Marylinda McCollister

Marylinda McCollister, 80, entered into eternity on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at her home in Fishers, Indiana.

She was born on November 19, 1941 in Anderson, Indiana, to Frank Thomas and Frances Thomas. Her friends and family affectionately called her "Mollie."

Marylinda graduated from Anderson High School in 1960 and went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in elementary education from Anderson University and a Master's Degree in elementary education from Ball State University. She started her career as a Elementary School Teacher and went on to work for Anderson Community Schools for fifteen years.

Marylinda married Curtis McCollister on October 21, 1978 at Central Christian Church, Anderson, Indiana. The couple had 1 child, Tom McCollister, of Carmel, Indiana.

Marylinda was a voracious reader, enjoyed games, travel, and faithfully exchanged letters with the pen pal in England she first wrote to at age 16. She actively supported local and international church outreach and community service projects. An early hobby was collecting pictures, statues, and jewelry depicting owls.

Marylinda is survived by her husband, Curtis McCollister of Fishers, Indiana, her son, Tom McCollister, daughter-in-law, Adrienne McCollister, and grandson, Cooper McCollister of Carmel, Indiana, her sister-in-law, Carol Clendening, of Muncie, Indiana and nephew Alex Clendening, also of Muncie, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Thomas, and her mother, Frances Thomas.

The service for Marylinda McCollister will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Allisonville Christian Church, 7701 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, Indiana. Visitation will precede the service on Saturday, at 1:00 PM at Allisonville Christian Church.

Entombment will follow the service at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, 9700 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46250.
