Mary Lou Curry

God called Mary Lou Curry home on Monday, May 11, 2020. She passed away peacefully in the evening of natural causes at Greenwood Meadows Nursing Home in Greenwood, Indiana. She was 93 years old.
Mary was born on February 7, 1927 to Frank and Edith Davis on their family farm in Salem, Indiana. She was one of nine children.
She married C. Wayne Curry on July 19, 1946 in Indianapolis, Indiana. After moving several times during their early years of marriage, they settled in Hope, Indiana. They raised three children in their home. Mary enjoyed gardening and grew a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, and flowers on a large portion of their property. She also enjoyed all kinds of crafts and sewing. She made many of the clothes her family members wore and even sewed a wedding dress for a neighbor’s daughter.
Mary was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. She was also an active member of the Hope community through her involvement in several different organizations, including the Early Bird Homemakers Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Hope Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, Columbus Quilters Guild, and the Craft Club. She served as the adult leader of the Light-Hearted Lassies 4-H club for several years. After her children had grown, she regularly volunteered as a reader for the Hope Head Start program for preschoolers. She remained in Hope, Indiana until five years ago, when she moved to Greenwood, Indiana to be closer to her children.
Mary was preceded in death by her brothers, Willard, Rex, and Roscoe Davis and an unnamed infant as well as her sisters, Alice Baker, Betty Jorgensen, and June Beam Avery. Mary now joins her husband who passed away in 1996 after 50 years of marriage.
Mary is survived by her brother, albert Leroy Davis, sister, Martha Miller, and her three children; David Curry, George (Jackie) Curry, and Janet (Christopher) Meyer. She has six grandchildren, Ryan (Wendy) Curry, Jill (Dave) Cone, Michelle (Brian King) Curry, Ashley Curry, Amanda (Jarrod) Johnson, and Joseph Meyer.
