Mary Moore Abel, 60, daughter of the late Carl and Margaret Holler, passed away suddenly on Monday June 10th.
Mary spent the majority of her life in Terre Haute, IN, having attended school at St. Patrick's, Woodrow Wilson, Terre Haute South, and later getting her nursing degree at Indiana State University. Mary was an incredible nurse, most notably working for Dr. Favila at his cardiology practice, and also spending many years in the ICU at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. The family has enjoyed hearing the countless stories about how well Mary cared for her patients. Former colleagues always say she was a joy to work with. Mary was a great mother, always attending dance recitals and baseball games while being the cheerful, calming rock of the family. Once Mary became a grandma, she was a doting "Nanny". Much like the rest of the Holler family, Mary was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed trips to Wrigley and Arizona to watch them play. In her most recent years, Mary moved to Nineveh, IN and enjoyed spending time with her husband Terry Abel. Mary found the perfect match in Terry. She really enjoyed going on country cruises with Terry in his Mustang and playing with their border collie Pheobe together.
Mary is survived by her loving husband, Terry Abel, as well as her children, Nicole Christine Hobson (Tony) of Terre Haute and Frederick William Moore (Lauren) of Nashville, TN, and her grandchildren, Lila Grace Hurd, Owen Everett Hobson, Olivia Hope Moore and Maxwell William Moore. She is also survived by sister Phyllis Martin, and brothers, Steve Holler (Laura), Greg Holler (Elaine), Jess Holler (Cindy), and Bill Holler (Tricia), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary was an animal lover, so in lieu of flowers please make a donation to your local animal shelter. The family is still determining logistics for a celebration of life and will post details via Facebook and other outlets. Tentative date to be in July.
