Mary Helen Stephens

Mary Helen Stephens, 83, of Carmel, Indiana, passed away on February 6, 2020. She was born in Brazil, Indiana on March 23, 1936 to Elsie & Charles Bender. Mary grew up in Terre Haute Indiana and had one sister, Donna Crane.

In 1947, she met the love of her life, Richard Stephens, they married in 1952 and had 4 children, Rocky, Tim, Lavonna, and Jana.

Mary loved playing golf, the organ, sewing, knitting, cooking, and playing cards. She also loved working as a realtor for F.C Tucker & building homes.

She is preceded by her parents Charles & Elsie Bender; son, Tim Stephens; Daughter, Lavonna Stephens; and grandson, Shawn Stephens.

Mary is survived by her loving husband Richard Stephen; son, Rocky (Carol) Stephens; daughter, Jana (James) Gravelie; sister, Donna Crane; Grandchildren, Shane Stephens, Kyle (Amy) Stephens, Tisha (Ryan) Walden, Naomi (Michael) Naab, Ashley (Ryan) Carpenter, Cory Stephens, Lindsie (Jordan) Kassing; & 17 grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 1pm on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at Indiana Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46250. Visitation prior to service from 11am – 1pm. Burial to follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
