Mark D. Lenz, 66, currently of Fishers, IN, died on May 1, 2021. He was born February 2, 1955, in Fort Wayne, IN, the third son of the late Arthur and Janice Lenz, who made family memories that Mark cherished and shared.
Mark was a graduate of Concordia Lutheran High School where he had many interests. The most enduring of which was playing keyboards. He began performing as a keyboardist and vocalist with the band “Endgame” as a senior in high school, a group that has had a permanence of over 45 years. Music was central to his life, and he delighted friends and strangers alike with his talent. Mark was a reserved and gentle man in public, but what he avoided in small talk, he made up for in song. Throughout his life, he enjoyed playing and “watching” sports, making memories with his family, whether just hanging out or on vacation, and took pride in home projects.
Mark is survived by his wife of 34 years, Vicki Lenz, and his daughter, Danielle Lenz, of whom he could not be prouder. Together, they shared a love for music. They will remember him best for his intuitive kindness, selfless love, and dry sense of humor. He was humble and content, believing that life is good and the “good” is extra. He asked for little and gave much. He loved his family and friends unconditionally and he will be dearly missed.
Mark is also survived by his brother Robert Lenz and his wife Kathy, many brother- and sister-in-laws, nieces, and nephews all who he enjoyed spending time and reminiscing, and fellow band members/special friends Tom Gibson, John Escosa II, and Neil Federspeil. His eldest brother Stanley Lenz preceded him in death.
A private service to celebrate and honor Mark’s life will be held in Fort Wayne at a later date. In lieu of flowers, visit a small local music venue, dance, sing, and extend an act of kindness. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
