Marjorie “Sittee” Mesalam, 92 passed away on October 5, 2021.
Margie was the consummate mother, grandmother, great grandmother and homemaker. She loved to cook and bake, especially Arabic food for her family and their friends. Her home was always open to everyone for meals, desserts or overnights - family, friends, her kids’s and grandkids’ friends. Everyone knew “Sittee” and she loved being a part of their lives.
Margie loved sports, especially watching her kids and grandkids. She attended every sporting event, dance recital, musical performance or event that involved her kids and grandkids, and could be heard ringing her cowbell at the football games! She had season tickets with the Indianapolis Colts and Purdue Boilermakers for years. She adored her Texas Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys football. In fact, she loved everything Texas!
She was an accomplished pianist, and often played from memory for others, especially for her friends at Manor Care. She played classical music, as well as many university fight songs. She was a member of St. George Orthodox Church. Her family wishes to thank her physicians and caregivers at St. Vincent Hospital and Manor Care of Carmel.
Margie is survived by her loving children, Robert P, Mesalam II (Joanie), Linda Carroll, and Lisa Mesalam, grandchildren Lauren (Gary) Faulkner, Heather, Brett and Paige Mesalam and Megan Carroll, and great grandchildren Tyler, Chloe, Harper and Everly Faulkner. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Robert P. Mesalam and her son-in-law Thomas Carroll.
Arrangements will be in care of Indiana Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Road with visitation from 4-8pm on October 9th. On October 11th at St. George Orthodox Church, 10-11am visitation will be followed by the funeral at 11am. Donations may be made in her memory to St. George or St. Vincent Foundation.
