Marie Coy passed away peacefully on July 30, 2020 in Homestead Nursing Home. Marie suffered with dementia for several years. She was cared for by her loving husband Louis Coy for several years before entering a nursing home facility in 2016. By no means did dementia define Marie. She was soft-spoken, compassionate and she enjoyed working outside the home. Marie worked as an Chapter 1 tutor at Perry Township schools for 10 years and later retired from St. Francis Hospital in dietary. Marie loved spending time with her family and friends, journal writing and going to social events with Louie. She was loved for the caring, kind woman that she was, and she will be missed immensely by those that loved and knew her. Marie was a quiet presence yet in social settings with her card club or bowling she was very outgoing. When entertaining she wanted to make all that entered her home feel welcome.
Marie was born in Beech Grove, Indiana on October 9, 1940 to the late Joseph and Marie (Koers) Baldus. She graduated from Scecina Memorial High School in 1958 and married the love of her life Louie on October 25, 1958. Marie and Louie lived in Arizona for the first couple years of marriage while Louie served in the U.S. Air Force. Their first child Michael was born while in Arizona. Marie and Louis returned to Indiana where they had four more children. Marie was a devout Catholic, loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of Saint Jude Catholic Church for many years and later helped with the planning of Saint Francis and Clare Catholic Church in Center, Grove, Indiana.
Marie is survived by her husband Louis Coy; their children, Michael (Masha) Coy, Cathy (Greg) Prosch, Angie (Tom) Sur and Dan Coy; grandchildren, Patrick, Amanda, Ryan, Jessica, Kevin, Quinlan, Augustus and Gavin; great-grandchildren, Jack, Lillian, Logan, Jaxon, Thea, Kairi and Christopher; sister, Bernadette Rollison.
