Marian Elizabeth (Radebaugh) Hunter was a beautiful, funny, musical and caring woman who almost made it to age 100. She met Harold, her husband of 65 years, in college, and became his wartime bride. They delighted in the births of their 3 children (Dianne, Barbara and Bob), and have lovingly enjoyed their 7 grandchildren (Tedd, Dyan, Sarah, Alex, Katie, Samantha and Max).
Although born in Bluffton, Marian spent most of her life in Bellevue, Ohio, close to her parents (Ruth and William) and her sister (Willella). As music was her passion in life, she played piano throughout high school, and she used her Ohio Wesleyan music degree to play the Methodist church organs for 55 years. In fact, most of the family was musical ,which resulted in many hours of joyful sounds from the Hunter residence, especially during holidays.
My mom was very dedicated to her children and grandchildren. She worked to make sure the 3 of us were able to go on special trips, go to college and have lovely weddings. She was with me during delivery and was the first to hold her oldest grandchild, Tedd, afterwhich she welcomed the other 6 with equal enthusiasm and joy. We had so many memorable family gatherings with Mom at the helm : Thanksgivings, Christmases, days of canning our summer harvests from our gardens, getting fresh sour cherries at the local cherry farm and trips to Cedar Point.
Mom helped my dad run the Hunter Motel and their 2 Hallmark stores; she also taught 2nd grade, was a master bridge player, and was kind and helpful to all who knew her. Soon after Harold died, Mom broke her hip and was moved to Indianapolis, her home for the past 8 years. She was her cheerful friendly self up until the end, endearing herself to residents and caretakers in all the several homes where she lived. She was my role model, my teacher, my friend and one of the most loving people in my life. All of our family will miss her, and will enjoy sharing our individual and collective cherished memories of times with Marian.
