Margaret Woods

With a heavy heart we announce the passing of Margaret 'Peggy' Woods (Gootee).  She passed on May 28, 2023, at the age of 82.  

Peggy was born in Indianapolis and it is where she lived the majority of her life.  She was a graduate of Scecina Memorial High School (class of 1959).  She was active on the Scecina reunion committee where she helped plan the 50th class reunion.  She worked many years at St. Vincent Hospital and loved her time there.  She would often mention that she dreamed of being a nurse.  She loved her books and would read often.  She also loved her Colts and Pacers and would often have gatherings at her home to watch games.  Peggy was a parishoner of Holy Spirit Catholic Church (Eastside).  She was a woman of faith.  She loved her grandchildren and would frequently attend their activities.  Whether it be kickball, volleyball, softball, or dance, she would be there.

She was a caring, loving mother and grandmother and she will be deeply missed.   Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, Leo Gootee and Mary Gootee(Altherr).  She is survived by her sister, Mary Beth (Frank Malone); 4 children, Greg Woods (Sunday), Kevin Woods, Mark Woods, and Scott Woods (Lori); 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.  In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Holy Spirit Church E. 10th St. on her behalf.  

There will be a visitation and memorial service on June 16th, 2023 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. The visitation is from 11:00am to 1:00pm with the memorial service to start at 1:00pm.
