Marcella Leverenz, 90, of Indianapolis, Indiana, died January 19, 2022, at Clearvista Lake Health Campus, Indianapolis, Indiana. Marcella graduated from Manual High School in Indianapolis in 1949. She served as an executive secretary for the Boy Scouts of America, as well as for the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce. She was a member of a prominent tennis family designated “Tennis Family of the Year” by the Central Indiana Tennis Association. Marcella was of the Lutheran faith. She loved to dance, travel, cook and entertain, but most of all loved spending time with her family.
Marcella was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Rowland John Leverenz, her parents, Henry and Eva Davidson Barrett, all nine of her siblings and two grandsons, Brian A. Lewis, of NC, and Alex Douglas of Indianapolis. Survivors include their four children, Karen Lewis (Ralph) of SC, Debbie Steinhagen (Gerry) of Greenwood, IN, Anita Walther (Kurt) and Jay Leverenz of Indianapolis; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A private service officiated by Chaplain Rob Mifflin will be held at Indiana Funeral Care, Greenwood Chapel with online condolences at indianafuneralcare.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Hospice, 9894 East 121st Street, Fishers, IN, 46037, in memory of Marcella Leverenz.
