[Fishers, IN]

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marc Huber, who left this world on December 2, 2024, at the age of 51. Born on April 8, 1973, in Neuss, Germany, Marc was a compassionate son (and son-in-law), a devoted husband, a loving father, a caring brother-in-law, a playful uncle, and a beloved friend.

Marc grew up in Düsseldorf and Hamburg, Germany. He attended high school at Sophie Barat Schule in Hamburg, where he forged lifelong friendships that he cherished deeply. At the age of 19, Marc made the brave decision to leave Germany and attend Barat College in Lake Forest, IL. He often described these years as life-changing. At Barat, Marc served as class president, won the prestigious Abraham Civics Engagement Award, graduated with honors, and met the love of his life, Erika Huber. He adored Erika every day, never going a day without expressing his love—whether through words, gestures, or simple acts of kindness.

Together, Marc and Erika had three amazing children—Camilla [Mel] Huber, Daniel Huber, and Sofia Huber. Marc shared his wisdom and guidance with them, often through his humor, his personal anecdotes, and, of course, his iconic eyebrows. He passed on his love of performance, dance, music, arts, literature, technology, and civic engagement to his children, who have each embraced these passions in their own unique ways.

Marc had a deep appreciation for people from all walks of life. He strongly believed in the positive impact humans can have on one another, a philosophy that led him to a career in nonprofit development. He worked for Barat College, DePaul University, Rotary International, the Indiana University Library, the Carmel Symphony Orchestra, and, in his later years, as a manager at Walmart.

Marc passed away peacefully, knowing his family was surrounded by the love and support of each other, as well as friends and neighbors who stood by him, his wife, and children throughout his 4-year, 10-month battle with cancer. Their unwavering care, kindness, laughter, and support brought him comfort during his final years.

He is survived by his parents, Gerhard Huber and Ursela (Wallraf) Griese; his wife, Erika (Hengstler) Huber; his children, Camilla [Mel] Huber, Daniel Huber, and Sofia Huber; his mother-in-law, Camilla (Consolino) Hengstler; and his brothers-in-law, Bob Hengstler and Joseph Hengstler, along with their families. He leaves behind a legacy of pride within his family.

Marc was preceded in death by his grandmother, Matilde (Dolli) Wallraf, and his father-in-law, Barry Hengstler.

Celebration of life will be held on December 30, 2024,
