Luckesinia “Lucky” Brown January 23, 1959 – January 6, 2025

Lucky was born in Germany and moved to the United States at a young age. Although she grew up in El Paso, Texas, she traveled and lived in many places. She had been a resident of Indianapolis since 1987. She graduated from Martin University and worked as a Social Worker for the State of Indiana and Quest for Excellence. She was passionate about helping youth who grew up as ward of the state. Lucky filled a void for many as a mother figure. She knew no strangers as she conversated with anyone she met just in passing at the store, the bank, or just on a walk. She had a love for traveling, outdoors, and pets.

Lucky is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Gordon R. Brown.

She is survived by her daughters, LaTonia Poole (Eric) and Sharonda Sledge (Brian); brother, Frank J. Eli; 5 grandchildren, Dayja, Sunshine, Love, Teonna, and Andre; 6 great-grandchildren, Daniel, Legend, Honor, True, Golden, and Elias; and several nieces and nephews.

Lucky’s wishes were to be cremated and to not have a service.
