Lowell Vander Ellis, 78, of Parker City, IN, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2023, at IU Ball University Hospital in Muncie, IN. He was born March 6, 1944, in Muncie, IN, to the late Vander and Zora Ellis.
After graduating Muncie Central High, he went to FL and became a tech diver (underwater demo and welding; fascinated with Jacques Cousteau and fondness of the ocean), moved to California in the 60’s and worked engineering and designing a multitude of projects (avionics & software). He enjoyed both ocean and lake fishing, golfing, working on cars, and playing pool (East Coast Women’s Pool Team Coach).
He is survived by his sister Janice Stephenson of Muncie, IN; married Linda Byers and had 3 children: sons Christopher (Renee), Lowell, and daughter Suzanne Illia (Mike); grandchildren Sydney, Christopher, Kathryn, and Julia; cousins, nieces, nephew, and friends.
Preceded in death by sisters Adelene Cassel, Glenna Fay Klingel, and brother Chesley Hoyatt.
“Ellis”, as many friends referred to him, wished to return to the ocean.
