Lawrence Peterson Jr.

Lawrence “Petey” Peterson Jr. was born in Chattanooga, TN on October 23, 1951, to the late Lawrence “Pete” Peterson Sr. and the late Ethel Lee McCaleb Peterson. Lawrence went home to be with the Lord on November 4, 2024 at the Veterans Hospital in Indianapolis.

After attending Indianapolis Public Schools, Lawrence graduated from Crispus Attucks High School and soon joined the Marine Corps on November 20, 1969.

Lawrence was passionate about life and showed that passion at his last job as a personal care assistant. Lawrence enjoyed life to the fullest, most importantly, he loved his family, he loved to laugh and dance, and show his signature smile all the time.

Lawrence was baptized at an early age and confessed his belief in God at the Greater Joshua Baptist Church.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his loving parents, his sisters Sandra and Juanita, and his son Lawrence Seawood.

He is survived by sisters, Linda McCaleb, Rosemary Turentine, Mattie (Jimmie) Jones, Gwendolyn Driver, and Loretta Smith; brother, Floyd (Paula) Peterson; daughter, Ebony Hatchett; granddaughters, Zion Gubin and Ashley McNeil; two great grandchildren, Stephen Louis Perkins and Charliee Daisy McNeil; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and close friends; and a special uncle, Franklin Ivey.

A funeral service will take place at Noon on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Indiana Funeral Care, Harry W Moore Chapel. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time. Lawrence will be laid to rest at Crown Hill National  Columbarium at a later date.
