LaVonne Ruth Barber

LaVonne Ruth Barber of Fortville, Indiana passed away on Friday June 14, 2024 at the age of 81.

LaVonne was born on September 24, 1942 in Saint Paul, Minnesota to parents Robert and Gwendolyn Barber. To say she lived an easy life would be untrue. She experienced many hardships including the loss of her mother at a young age, the loss of a child and overcoming many health challenges. Through all the hard times she still managed to find joy and happiness in life. Making people smile and laugh was one of her favorite hobbies. She especially loved loudly singing Conway Twitty (Hello Darlin’ was her song of choice) and always had her imaginary microphone in hand. She even tried belly dancing at one point, but that was a short lived hobby. She would never turn down a spontaneous trip to the casino and she rarely ever came home empty handed. If only we all had that kind of luck! Most of all LaVonne loved spending time with family and friends. Whether it be a holiday spent with family, a spur of the moment get together or something as simple as a loved one stopping by to say hello. A random phone call from her nieces whom she adored would always put a smile on her face. She loved every minute of it. LaVonne cherished her family and always made everyone feel so loved, including her great grandchildren.. even though they all have four legs and lots of fur. So with that being said, take my advice. Live like LaVonne and always take a moment to find the happiness life has to offer no matter what you’re going through.

LaVonne was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Gwendolyn Barber. Daughter, Barbara Jean Goins. Siblings John (Alta) Barber and Fayette Zitzman. 

LaVonne is survived by her children, Robert Truan, Cheryl (Todd) Wagner, Todd (Wanda) Truan and Tammy (Ryan) Wunderlich. Grandchildren, Tristin (Jake) Elliott, Luke Wagner, Jacob, Gracie and Henry Wunderlich. Siblings, Kathy (Jim) Schueller and Marilyn Glen.
