Larry Ray Smith, age 70, of Greenwood, Indiana was sent to be home with our Lord on Tuesday October 1st, 2019. Larry was born to Elmer “Ray” and Faylene (Birdwell) Smith on May 26th, 1949 in Glascow, Kentucky. He was united in marriage in 1975 to Darlene Joyce Hassler in Indianapolis, Indiana. This happy union was blessed with two children, Aaran and Justin.
Larry had a charisma for life, known for his bright smile and quick wit. He carried a passion for every aspect of his life. He had a love for all things Sci-Fi, video games, and music from the good ole days like Moody Blues, Fleetwood Mac, and Bob Seeger. Larry worked as an electrical technician for most of his career and was well skilled at his trade. He is huge Indiana Hoosier fan and learned to love the Boilers when his daughter enrolled there. Larry could also be found cheering on his Indianapolis Colts. He loved animals and possessed a kind soul for all living things.
In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by his sister Caroline Fay. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Darlene (Hassler) Smith; his brother Garry Smith and his wife Karen of Indiana; his children; Justin Smith of Indiana, Aaran (Smith) Legner and her husband Aaron of Texas; his grandchildren, Carter and Riley Legner of Texas; being a member of a large family, Larry is also survived by his nephews, Matt Smith and his wife Jenna and David Smith; his great nephews, Jonathon Smith and his wife Laura, Luke, Logan, Samuel, Caleb, and Max; his niece, Stephanie West and her husband Robert; his great nieces, Aubrey and Isabella and many other extended relatives.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2019 at Indiana Funeral Care – Greenwood Chapel, 2433 East Main Street, Greenwood, Indiana 46143.
