Larry L. Ingram

INDIANAPOLIS- Larry L. Ingram, 81, passed away peacefully from congestive heart failure June, 6th, 2020 at 4:51 pm in his home surrounded by his family.

Preceding him in death is his infant son Gary Ingram: mother, Harriet (Light) Rickelman: his grandfather who raised him, Henry J, Light; brother, Daniel (Kay) Ingram, sister, Joyce (Kenny) Richard.

He is survived by his wife Patricia (Brase) Ingram; children, Dennis (Regina) Ingram, of Castle Rock, CO; Rick (Cami) Ingram of Goodfield, IL; and Amy Ingram of Fortville, IN; his brother Thomas (Kay) Ingram; Larry also had several grandchildren whom he loved dearly: Jaime (Matt) Hinrichs, Joel (Emily) Ingram, Jenna (Heath) Roe, Jerrod (Taylor) Ingram, Parker Ward, and Jackson Ward. He also has several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews whom he adored.

This hilarious man was born August 14th, 1938 in Peoria, Illinois, to Harriet Rickelman. He was a graduate of Limestone High School and attended Bradley University. He completed many certifications through Ferris University and Indiana University, in refrigeration, electricity, and heating and cooling.

He met the love of his life, Patricia, in the halls of Limestone High School where he was the new boy in school and asked her to go on a hayrack ride for their first date in 1955.
Larry was united in marriage to Patricia on a beautiful Saturday evening on December 21, 1957, and together they shared over 61 wonderful years.

Larry began his career at Bartonville Hardware, where his passion for hardware retailing began. He then went on the road as a hardware salesman for wholesale hardware companies, ultimately working for Keystone Steel and Wire. They moved to Kissimmee, Florida, where he opened his own hardware business, Ingram Supply. He then moved his career to hotel management where he was in charge of Engineering at a disney hotel. He retired from that hotel, winning the attendance award for never missing a day of work in his career.

Larry built three different houses for his family over the years, as well as helped his son, Rick, build a lake house. On the lake with a fishing pole and his family was one of Larry’s favorite spots. Larry wrote comical poetry for his family members, even teaching his sons how to build a gate step-by-step in poetry form.

Larry and Pat are members of Servants of Christ Lutheran Church in Indianapolis.

Larry was the epitome of humor, positivity, humor, light-heartedness and oh-yeah-humor and never met a stranger. He is known for his words of wisdom in all situations. He passionately loved his family, as well as his friends. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, and always wore a smile and loved to tell jokes that he generously shared. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
