Larry Kent Craig, 80, went home to Jesus on December 4, 2019. His faith in God and devotion to his family were the pillars of his life.
Larry was born to Ruth Naomi Craig and Estle Verlin Craig in Valparaiso, Indiana on November 4, 1939. He was big-brother to Douglas Craig, whom he loved greatly. Larry was known to be both responsible and active in sports and social activities - something that continued throughout his life. Larry graduated from Valparaiso High School in 1958. Following, he joined the Army National Guard and served our country until 1968.
Larry married Orilyn “Lynn” Craig in 1964, and together they built a life on love, faithfulness, and family for the past 55 years. He was a loving father to Stephen Kent Craig and Suzanne Marie Craig. Devoted members of First Baptist Church in Valparaiso, they loved church activities, and spending quality time laughing with friends.
Larry earned a Bachelor of Science from Purdue University while working as a Comptroller for Midwest Steel. He retired from Midwest Steel in 1985 and finished his professional career as a Cost Analyst for the U.S. Government Department of Defense in Indianapolis until his final retirement in 2002. Larry and Lynn have been active members at College Park Church. Larry was passionate about calling first time guests, learning their stories, and sharing Jesus with them. Everybody mattered to him.
Larry was a devoted grandfather to Alexandria Craig and Jesse Craig. He loved spending time with them and cheering them on in all their activities. He was a great outdoorsman who loved long walks in State Parks, taking road trips with Lynn, fishing, and watching Indiana and Purdue Basketball.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, December 18, 2019, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 at College Park Church (2606 W. 96th Street Indianapolis, IN 46268). Larry will be buried at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso, Indiana.
