Larry Dillon, 86, passed away quietly in his home on Thursday March 2, 2023. He was born May 4, 1936 to the late Verneda Cannon (Cummings) at their home in Irvington.
Larry was an Army veteran. He served in the 82nd Airbone Division immediately following the Korean War in 1953.
He was also an avid coin collector, at one time owning a small coin shop with his beautiful wife Lorene. She was from there. They lived there from 1967 until moving back to Indianapolis in 1979.
Larry enjoyed casinos and playing the lottery. At one point he appeared on the Hoosier Lottery show and being the big winner.
He worked as a security officer for many years. Working kept him busy and he continued working until 2022.
Larry was preceeded in death by his loving wife of 53 years Lorene (Gage). They shared a beautiful life together. He never stopped loving her.
He is survived by his son Larry Dillon II of Indianapolis; daughters Sherrie Dillon of Indianapolis and Terri (Rod) Burger of Lincoln, IL; grandchildren Allison, Christine, Matthew, Richard and Ashley; and great-grandchildren Tommy, Everett, Jayson, Ava, Laila, Skylar, Logan, Audrina, Colson and Eden.
Per his wishes he is being cremated with no showing or services.
