He was a 1965 graduate of Carthage High School. Larry traveled the country and the world with Roots Blower Company/Dresser Industries based in Connersville, Indiana, until 1972, when he met the love of his life, Connie. After the birth of his daughter, Annamarie, Larry would close the chapter on politics to focused on his family, working full-time for the Postal Service, and assuming the role as the National Rural Letter Carriers' Association Steward for his office.
Larry enjoyed his life to the fullest, traveling with his family, spending the summers at the Knightstown ballpark coaching girls’ softball, keeping the diamonds in shape, and sitting back and enjoying a good game. After his daughter grew up, along came his two grandchildren, Hunter Cheyenne and Dane Allan, that kept him on his toes. Larry retired from the United States Postal Service in 2010, after reaching the Million Mile Award for thirty years of safe driving in 2007.
In retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, growing a garden, which he shared with the community, and hanging out with his buddies at the racetrack.
