Reflection of Life
Kimberly E. Baker was born on August 17, 1954, as the eldest child to the late Howard and Rosemary Baker, in Des Moines, Iowa.
In 1964, the Baker family relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana, where Kimberly was educated by the Indianapolis Public School System. He attended IPS School #32 and graduated from Shortridge High School in 1972. Kim also attended and graduated from PCI (Professional Careers Institute).
Kim’s professed his faith in Christ at an early age. He previously joined New Direction Worship Center, under the guidance of Pastor Michael A. Searcy. He was a beloved member for several years. He most recently joined New Direction Church, under the direction of Pastor Kenneth E. Sullivan Jr., where he served as an usher.
On November 28, 1991, Kim was united in Holy Matrimony to Cassandra (Sandy) Baker. They were married for 23 years; but had spent more than 40 years together. Upon their union, he was blessed with two children, LaTasha and Alvin (Whosey).
Kimberly worked at Chrysler for many years, then changed careers moving into the medical field. He spent many years as a Phlebotomist, a job which he truly loved. He was most recently a medical transporter for Pillow Logistics.
Mr. Baker loved spending time with his family and friends, completing 5K walks, watching sports and being around the ocean. Kim had a huge heart and would help anyone in need. He never met a stranger. Kim was a devoted husband, son, brother, father, uncle and grandfather.
Kim was preceded in death by his wife, Sandy Baker, parents, Howard and Rosemary Baker and brother Kevin Baker.
Kimberly leaves to cherish his memory: a devoted sister and brother, Katina Baker and Kent (Pamela) Baker, daughter, LaTasha (Philip) Fench, son Alvin (Whosey) Yancy, grandson Jaylen Evans, nieces Angela Cannon and Kiela Baker, and nephew Kent (Kristin) Baker Jr. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and countless friends.
