Kent Robert Swengel, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on October 11, 2023, in his hometown of Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born on April 30, 1951, to his parents Ken and Dorothy Swengel. Kent's stepfather Roscoe also played an important role in his upbringing.
Kent had a fulfilling career of 34 years at Rolls-Royce before retiring. His dedication and hard work made him a respected member of the company. He took great pride in his work and left a lasting impact on those he worked with.
Outside of his career, Kent had many passions and pastimes that brought him joy throughout his life. He found solace and happiness in the great outdoors – boating and fishing were among his favorite activities. Whether he was cruising on a calm lake or casting a line for the big catch, Kent felt at peace in nature.
Kent's proudest accomplishment was undoubtedly his retirement. After dedicating himself to his career for over three decades, he was finally able to enjoy the fruits of his labor. Kent cherished every moment of retirement and always had a smile on his face during those years.
Family meant the world to Kent, and he leaves behind a legacy of love and connection. He is survived by his wife Rebecca, who stood by his side through thick and thin. Together they created a loving home for their children: Cory (Tanya) and Kelly (Ken). Kent found immense joy in being a father; he treasured every moment spent with Cory and Kelly as they grew into remarkable individuals.
Kent was also blessed with six beautiful grandchildren: Anthony, Cory Jr., Emma, Ashlyn, Gracie and Benjamin. Their laughter filled his heart with immeasurable happiness. He adored his role as a grandfather and embraced every opportunity to spoil them with love.
In addition to his immediate family, Kent leaves behind two sisters, Barbara and Sharon, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members who will remember him.
Kent's most loyal companion, Bailey, was by his side through thick and thin. Bailey, his beloved German Shepherd, provided unwavering love and companionship. They shared countless playful moments and tears of joy together.
A visitation to honor Kent's life will be held on October 25, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at IFC - Indianapolis located at 8151 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46250. Throughout the visitation, family and friends will gather to celebrate Kent's life.
Following the visitation, a graveside service will take place at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens on October 25, 2023 at 2 p.m.
Kent Robert Swengel will forever remain in our hearts as a man who lived life to the fullest.
