Kenneth Elmer Petersen, 73, a US Navy veteran, passed away on December 6, 2020 following a battle with Covid- 19. He was the son of Elmer and Agnes Petersen of Nebraska. He entered the Navy at age 19 and proudly served on the USS AMERICA CV-66.
He enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, dancing and all outdoor activities; especially fishing. He took great pride in his yard work and fixing things around the house; there was always a project to be done.
Ken loved all animals and taking trips. He especially enjoyed going to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah, Hawaii, Disney World and Italy.
He is survived by his long-time significant other, Teresa Middendorf and her entire family, His sister, Shirley DiMercurio in California, her daughter, Kristen, husband Tony and their children: Analisa, Arabella and Carlo; his sister Linda Slattery in Nebraska; His daughter, Kim Kaler and her son Christian, and his son, Rick Petersen, his wife, Amy and their children: Ryan, Kyle and Jessica of Indiana.
He was dearly loved and will be truly missed by everyone who knew him.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Indiana Funeral Care, Greenwood Chapel beginning at 2:00pm. Visitation will begin at 1:00pm.
