Kathleen Jo Parker

February 6, 1958 — May 11, 2022

Kathleen Jo Parker, 64, of Indianapolis, passed away on Wednesday, May 11th, 2022. She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on February 6th, 1958, to Jack Allen McCray and Melba Schubnell.
Kathy McCray Parker had a heart of gold and was a compassionate friend to everyone she met, especially those who were struggling in life. She had a soft spot for the underdog. Kathy didn’t judge others for what they “did or didn’t have” but for who they were. She was the type of person who would give you the shirt off her back if she thought she could help you through a tough situation. Although Kathy was great at her job and a professional at work, all those who knew her would say she missed her true calling and that she would’ve been a star stand- up comedienne. Kathy had an awesome sense of humor. She was the one who could always lighten the room and bring everyone to laughter! Kathy loved her daughter, Kortney, and her three grandchildren, Alana, Jayda, and Daylen, with all her heart. The loss of her dear husband, Leonard Parker, was very hard on Kathy and took a toll on her health as well.
Kathy was eventually able find happiness and companionship in her partner, Steve Dodson, who was with her until her death.
Kathy is survived by two sisters, Darla Kolodzieij (Dan), Rhonda Moneymaker (Fred); one brother, Bob Schubnell; her three grandchildren, Alana Spaulding, Jayda Curtis, and Daylen Curtis; many nieces and nephews as well as a large extended family and many lifelong friends.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Melba and Robert Schubnell, her husband, Leonard Parker, her daughter, Kortney Marie McCray (Doug), and her brother Jack McCray (Carolyn).
There will be a celebration of life on Tuesday, May 24th, 2022 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at Indiana Funeral Care, Greenwood Chapel.
