Karen Lee (PennyCuff) Hawila, age 64 of New Castle, Indiana died peacefully on June 16, 2020 with her loving husband, Ali Hawila, by her side.
Born February 12, 1956 to Francis (Polston) Pennycuff and Wendell “Ken” Pennycuff, Karen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many.
Karen spent most of her life in New Castle where she gave birth to her first son, Michael Ray Wolfe in August of 1973. The duo eventually moved to Spring, Texas where she met the love of her life, Ali Hawila.
Karen and Ali tied the knot on July 25, 1985 in the Houston area where it remained their home for another 15 years. In December of 1989, Karen and Ali welcomed their son into the world, Jessie.
In the early 2000s, Karen and her family moved back to her hometown of New Castle where she spent the last 20 years of her life.
Karen was a kind, gentle soul who always put others before herself. Strong, resilient, selfless: just a few words that describe the character of this amazing woman.
Karen is survived by her adoring husband Ali Hawila. Sons Michael (Leah) Wolfe, Jessie (Elisabeth) Hawila. Grandchildren Matthew, Justin, and Sarah Wolfe. Great-grandchildren Walker and Texas Wolfe, and Eli Garcia Yac. Brother Marty (Trysh) Pennycuff. Sister-in-law Karen Pennycuff. Half-sister Patty and stepmom Opsy Pennycuff. Predeceased by parents Wendell and Francis Pennycuff, brother Anthony “Tony” “Bub” Pennycuff, and half-brother David Chapman.
There are no services scheduled at this time. A Celebration of Life ceremony for family and friends will be determined at a later date.
