Karen Diane Chabal

Indianapolis

Karen Diane Chabal, 61, of Indianapolis, Indiana, went home to be with Jesus on October 25th, 2024 after an unexpected illness at Community North Hospital. She was surrounded by family at her passing which was eleven days before her 62nd birthday.

She was born Monday, November 5th 1962 , in Muncie, Indiana, the daughter of Jack and Patty (Wilson) Syphers. She grew up attending Muncie First Baptist Church where she was involved with the Good News Singers and the First Baptist Youth Group. She graduated from Yorktown HighSchool in 1981 where she was involved in band and drama club. She attended and graduated University of Evansville in 1985. She married David Chabal on May 16th, 1992. Karen worked as an accountant for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. She was a devoted member of Fall Creek Church where she enjoyed attending Ladies Bible Study with her friends each Tuesday.

Karen was an avid reader, enjoyed trivia, crocheting and knitting gifts for friends and loved ones, playing games, and genealogy. She also enjoyed adventures with her husband like regularly attending shows at Beef and Boards and going to Universal where she could truly be a wizard. She was the first to like all of your photos on facebook, and was always excited to tell the family the newest facts and information that she discovered about their family tree. Her presence in a room was always known by her heartfelt signature laugh, kind spirit and joyful presence. 

Survivors include her loving husband, David Chabal; children, Jonathan David Chabal and Joshua Stephen Chabal; grandchild, Kaiden Chabal; her siblings, Gregg (Felecia) Syphers, Janel Syphers, and Laura Syphers Siddiq; brother in law, Jim Chabal; and two nieces, four nephews, two great nieces, two great nephews, and several others who she considered family. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Patty (Wilson) Syphers; her stepmother, Esther Syphers; and her in-laws, Victor and Jeanne Chabal. She was also preceded in death by her infant sisters, Shirley and Peggy Syphers. 

Her Celebrations of life will be held at 2:00 p.m.(EST) Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Fall Creek Church, 8901 Fall Creek Rd, Indianapolis, Indiana 46256. Visitation will be from 1PM till time of Service. 

The Family wishes that any memorial contributions be made out to Fall Creek Church, 8901 Fall Creek Rd, Indianapolis, Indiana 46256 or to the Lupus Foundation of America.
