Loving and hardworking husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Julius “Inky” Schoof, 86, of Fish Lake, IN passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 19, 2023 in Westfield, IN with his family at his side.
Inky was born on December 26, 1936 to Alfred and Annabelle (Rahfeldt) Schoof in LaPorte, IN. On May 26, 1962 he married Phyllis (Kowalski) Schoof who survives.
Inky was in the United States Army Active Reserve Unit for six years, worked at Indiana Molding and Frame for 15 years, and retired from Whirlpool Corporation in May 2002 after 31 years of service. After retirement Inky and Phyllis traveled, enjoyed going to the casino and were always together. Inky enjoyed keeping his lawn meticulous. His greatest joy was seeing his children and grandchildren participate in school programs, orchestra concerts, and sporting events.
Inky was of member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fish Lake and also coached his son’s baseball team in the Kankakee Valley Little League for seven years where his team had a 16-2 record the first year and were tournament champions the following year.
Inky is also survived by daughter, Tina (Dean) Severs of Fishers, IN and son, Terry (Michele) Schoof of Felton, DE. Grandchildren Brent Schoof, Katelyn Schoof, Max Severs, Alaina Severs and sister, Janice Hadella and many nieces and nephews.
Inky was preceded in death by his parents, brother Alfred Schoof, Jr. and sisters Darlene Hindsley and Dorothy Kramer and in-laws John and Angela Kowalski.
The family would like to thank the Ed Kogut family for all their help during this time.
Cremation has taken place and a service will take place at a later date.
