Judy Chain

July 19, 1941 — September 4, 2023

Judith "Judy" Elaine (Staner) Chain was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She passed away peacefully at home on September 4, 2023 at the age of 82.

Judy was born to Forrest A. and Mildred H. (Lovett) Staner on July 19, 1941 in Denver, Colorado. She was married to Larry P. Chain from 1963 to 1984, and they had three children: Scott A. Chain (who preceded her in death on August 24, 2023); Lisa G. (Chain) Blankenship; and Troy D. Chain.

Judy and her husband Larry moved to California shortly after marriage. They eventually opened Scooterville in Anaheim in 1976. The family became immersed in scooter life, and Judy was known as "Scooter Mom" to many young people who shared their love of scooters until the shop closed in the early 1990s.

Judy moved to Texas in 1997 and lived a full life spending precious time with her sister Jerre Rae, then moved to Indiana in 2015 to be closer to her daughter, Lisa, and her son, Troy.

She enjoyed quilting, sewing, and crocheting, and even owned an Etsy shop dedicated to quilting. She also enjoyed collecting vintage jewelry and taking camping trips and fishing with family. Judy loved cats and was a cat rescue and spay and neuter advocate. She stayed in touch with many friends through the Sky Blue reunions over the years.

Judy is survived by her children Lisa Blankenship (Steve) and Troy Chain (Jenny); grandchildren Kristen Stowe, Johnny Meyer, Nicole Meyer and Russell Chain; great-grandchildren Joelle and Oakley Stowe; and sisters Sara Langendorf and Jerre Lou Rae.
