Judith W Benner, 84, of Fishers, Indiana passed away at Community North Hospital on January 4, 2023. Born March 25, 1938, to Paul and Marguerite Waldorf in St Louis, Missouri, Judy- as she was known to her friends and family was dearly loved by all. In 1960 she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Distributive Education from The Richmond Professional Institute of the College of William and Mary in Virginia. Judy went on to teach Distributive Education in Roanoke, Virginia and Pike High School in Indianapolis before a brief career with Allstate Insurance in the late 60's. She met her husband William "Bill" Benner, and they married in 1968. She then left her job to stay at home with her daughter Tracy and several stepchildren who she cared deeply about over the years. In 1976, after spending time with her fellow Brownie leader, Judy began her final career that would define her as the eventual owner of Custom Drapery Service. She began by measuring and assisting with the design of drapery treatments and sewing. Later after some light office work, she began running the business along with her trusted partners Janice and Dot with Paula in the back room designing all the beautiful case goods. This career lasted for 36 wonderful years until she successfully sold the business and retired at 74 years young to enjoy her grandchildren. Even in retirement, Judy loved to sew and found a way to cope with the pandemic by organizing a small group of friends to meet at her home in Fishers to sew blankets, hats, and mittens for Mission to Ukraine which were sent to children with special needs and disabilities in an orphanage in Ukraine. Her handiwork and talents will be sorely missed. Judy was preceded in death by her husband Bill, and we would like to think that he was there to greet her as she arrived with golf clubs in hand and a tee time. Her nine-hole partner Doris was surely there as well to participate in shenanigans like the days at Indian Lake Golf Club where they could be found getting "beautiful" at the end of a round or two. She leaves behind her daughter Tracy (Ted) Vatnsdal and grandchildren Alex and Emma who were the apple of her eye, plus many stepchildren, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren whom she very much enjoyed seeing over the years. The family will honor Judy's wishes with a private celebration of her life. Memorial contributions may be made to Mission to Ukraine. https://give.missiontoukraine.org/
